Netanyahu's request is based on "regional and global development", according to the application his lawyers sent to the court. The application states that he is "forced to devote all his time and energy to handling national, diplomatic and security-related issues".
In the current form of the request, "it does not provide any grounds or detailed justification for postponing his interrogation", says the Jerusalem District Court.
The lawsuit against the Prime Minister has been ongoing for several years and he is accused of fraud, bribery and breach of trust.
His request came after US President Donald Trump wrote a long post on his platform Truth Social on Thursday night, taking Netanyahu's side. He called the indictment a "witch hunt" and a "politically motivated case".
