The leader of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah movement, Naim Qassem, said in a television broadcast on Monday that he "rejects" the Lebanese government's direct talks with Israel.
Hezbollah's political council also criticized the negotiations.
"As for the outcome of the negotiations between Lebanon and the Israeli enemy, we are neither interested nor at all concerned," said Wafiq Safa of Hezbollah's political council, adding that the movement does not need to follow a possible settlement.
The move came as Israel announced military successes against Hezbollah and said Israeli soldiers had surrounded the town of Bint Jbeil near the Lebanon-Israel border.
