The recent talks between the US and Iran have stalled. Both parties want an agreement – the US wants Iran to stop enriching uranium and Iran wants sanctions lifted against the country. Despite this, it seems that the parties have reached a dead end. Iran announces that it plans to build a new enrichment facility.
US President Donald Trump warns that an Israeli attack "could happen very well" and lead to a "massive conflict". The US is withdrawing non-essential personnel from the region, as Iran threatens to retaliate against any attacks by targeting American targets.
Donald Trump has received information from Israel that it plans to attack, but later says that the US has not been involved in the implementation.

Just after 2 am local time, explosions are heard in the capital Tehran on the night of Friday. The attacks, which are carried out with 200 fighter jets, continue for several hours, targeting Iran's nuclear program and a dozen targets in several locations, including the Natanz nuclear facility in central Iran.
The powerful Revolutionary Guard leader Hossein Salami and Defense Minister Mohammad Bagheri are killed, along with several of Iran's most prominent nuclear physicists, according to state-run Iranian media.
The attacks are the largest on Iranian soil since the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. Israel says it will continue to attack. Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, says in a statement that Israel can expect "severe punishment".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that Israelis may need to live in shelters for a long time. A state of emergency is declared throughout the country. Iran also advises its citizens not to venture out unnecessarily.
Just a few hours after Israel's initial attacks, Israel says that Iran has sent over 100 drones towards the country, which Israel says it has shot down.
Just before 10 am, Israel's military says that civilians no longer need to stay near shelters.
Several countries in the region have closed their airspace, causing significant flight disruptions.

Just after 12 pm on Friday, reports emerge of a new Israeli attack on the Natanz nuclear facility.
Israel cites satellite images that are said to show "significant damage" in Natanz, but Iran claims that the damage is mainly on the surface, which would mean that the more important underground parts of the facility have survived.
Netanyahu says he expects "several waves of Iranian attacks" in response to Israel's attacks.
Israel's military says it has begun calling up reservists to all fronts and possible "battle zones" throughout the country.
Iran plans to no longer participate in the nuclear talks with the US that were planned to take place in Oman on Sunday, according to Iranian state media.
Iran calls an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council due to Israel's attacks.
