Israel has dumped rubbish and waste, specifically construction waste, in the Gaza Strip, according to information and video material that the Israeli newspaper has been made aware of.
In several clips, trucks with waste can be seen leaving Israel and driving into Gaza. They pass the border crossing Kissufim and drive around 200-300 meters into the Gaza Strip, where they unload their cargo by the side of the road and return empty-handed to Israel. Then the process is repeated.
According to Haaretz the loads consist of large quantities of construction waste and rubbish that the army left behind during the war, when dozens of bases and command posts were established along the Gaza border.
Soldiers who the newspaper has spoken to claim that the dumping has been ordered by field commanders, who have given private Israeli companies the instruction to drive into Gaza and "dump their load wherever they want".
Besides the fact that it is shameful, it is hard to believe that this is what the army is busy with. They are dumping construction waste full of iron, irrigation pipes and concrete blocks - materials that Hamas will eventually use for their own purposes, says an anonymous soldier to Haaretz.
In a comment to the newspaper, Israel's military claims that they are not aware of the information.
