Only with the very last stone of the final was the legend of a gold medal built. "When you see it sitting there, the joy," says Isabella Wranå.

The situation was as simple as it was difficult to resolve. The United States led the final 5–4 in the eighth and final end.

One stone left to throw.

The red stone that Isabella Wranå calmly placed exactly where she wanted it.

The gold stone, the one that made it 6–5.

"When I saw the kind of sweep I was getting, I felt pretty confident. I know I have an incredibly good sweeper in Rasmus and that I can put the stone on a relatively tight line and hold it there."

"It's so awesome"

Slowly the stone slid towards the nest. With a few meters left, the siblings realized that within seconds they would be celebrating Olympic gold.

What was going through your head?

"Joy. It's so awesome. I'm so proud of myself and of Rasmus."

Standing there and having the opportunity to make the decision is something she looked forward to, not feared.

"I enjoy being there, being able to finish. I'm usually pretty good at those shots," she says.

Rasmus Wranå was in the middle of the sweeping.

"I just swept the rock. When I heard 'clean' behind me, I knew it would be Olympic gold."

The siblings celebrated in style with family and friends.

"This is something that athletes dream about, some for their whole lives, and to be able to do it together with my brother and in this way... it feels absolutely incredible," says Isabella Wranå.

In the next few days, she will take the opportunity to watch other sports, perhaps Tre Kronor in Milan.

Could be historic

For Rasmus Wranå, training awaits as early as 8:30 a.m. ahead of Wednesday evening's opener against Italy in the men's tournament.

How will it feel to reset?

"I'll enjoy tonight, then it's just a matter of adjusting. I'll bring this wonderful feeling to the team and give it my all."

If the men win a second straight gold, Rasmus Wranå will make history as the first Swedish curler to win two gold medals at the same Olympics.

"That's what we're aiming for," he says.
