The Revolutionary Guards say they have used ballistic missiles to target air bases in Jordan, claiming to have caused extensive damage. Technical infrastructure and repair sites are among the targets said to have been hit.
Jordan's military says its air defences have intercepted eight missiles that entered its airspace.
The news of the Iranian attacks comes just hours after US forces attacked two Iranian launch pads on the island of Larak in the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran's Revolutionary Guard promised revenge.
