Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei has a different opinion.

"At the moment, our priority is to end the war. The other side must commit to a more reasonable approach and back off its unreasonable demands on Iran," Baqaei said at a briefing on Monday broadcast on state media, according to AFP.

Hours earlier, the ministry said the US had submitted a response to Tehran's latest negotiation proposal through Pakistan as mediator, the BBC reported, citing state media. The response is now "under review."

The US has not formally confirmed the information, but Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that the talks with Iran "could lead to something very positive for everyone."

The Iranian proposal includes 14 negotiation points. Among them are a formal end to the war within 30 days, lifting the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and postponing talks on the country's nuclear energy program - and indirectly, possible nuclear weapons - to a later date.

Trump stated on Saturday that he had received the proposal, but added:

I can't imagine that will be acceptable because they haven't yet paid a high enough price for what they have done to humanity and the world over the past 24 years.
