Iran's Supreme National Security Council reportedly gave the go-ahead for the restoration on Friday, Fars reports.
On Saturday, President Masoud Pezeshkian's son Yousef Pezeshkian, who is also an advisor to the government, publicly said the internet should be restored. Continuing to cut off access "would create discontent and widen the gap between the people and the government," he wrote in a post on Telegram.
Iran shut down access to digital communication with the outside world on January 8 as protests continued to spread across the country.
Several thousand people have been killed during the protests.
