Despite the attacks in the Persian Gulf continuing, a meeting is now beginning between Iran's Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and mediators in Pakistan.
The mediating country Pakistan has in recent days intensified its efforts to bring the parties to the negotiating table and de-escalate the conflict.
The temporary agreement reached between Iran and the US in June this year, which was intended to end the fighting, collapsed earlier in July.
