Iran Executes Three More Men Convicted Over January Protests, Rights Group Says

Three more men have been executed in Iran after being convicted of crimes linked to protests earlier this year, in trials that human rights groups described as unfair.

According to the Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHR), the three men were executed early Sunday in the city of Karaj, about 30 kilometers west of the capital, Tehran.

The trio allegedly threw Molotov cocktails and grenades at protests in January on behalf of Israel and the United States, Iran’s judiciary news agency Mizan reported.

The head of IHR told AFP that the three men, “like others before them ... were deprived of due process and a fair trial”.

With Sunday’s hangings, at least 39 people have been executed in Iran for alleged acts linked to the January protests, according to IHR.
