Iran states that a man who the country accuses of having spied for Israel has been executed.

According to Iran, the man is said to have collected and sold sensitive information about Iranian data centers and security installations. Activists claim, however, that the man was arrested for having written a letter to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in which he offers his help in Russia's invasion war.

According to the activists, the letter was used as evidence of the man's espionage for Israel, who would have taught the man to use the Microsoft Word program.

During the war, Iran has supplied Russia with drones that have been used in attacks on Ukraine.

Since the twelve-day war with Israel in June, Iran has executed eight people accused of espionage. In 2024, at least 975 people were executed in the country, according to the UN.
