The attacks were carried out on Wednesday and targeted, among other things, ships equipped with missile systems, service vessels, patrol boats and a combat command center, according to the Israeli military.
"We have carried out attacks in northern Iran in the Caspian Sea for the first time," spokesman Nadav Shoshani said at a press briefing.
He added that Israel had attacked more than 200 targets around Iran in the past 36 hours.
Israeli refinery hit
Wednesday's attack on Iran's massive South Pars gas field escalated the Israeli-US war, at a time when the global energy market is already shaken by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has responded with attacks on energy facilities in several countries around the Persian Gulf, and on Wednesday caused significant damage to facilities in Qatar.
On Thursday, Saudi Arabia said a refinery in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu had been hit in an attack. The country has begun pumping larger amounts of oil westward to the Red Sea in order to use export routes other than the Strait of Hormuz.
Kuwait said this morning that two of its oil refineries had been hit in Iranian attacks. Also in Israel, in the port city of Haifa, an oil refinery was hit after a new barrage of Iranian missiles, Israeli media report.
"Sometimes he does something"
Iran is threatening further attacks if its energy infrastructure is attacked again. So far, it has only used a "fraction" of its military capabilities, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
"The only reason for restraint was respect for the requested de-escalation. Zero restraint if our infrastructure is attacked again," Araghchi wrote on X.
US President Donald Trump claims he was not informed in advance of Israel's attack on a gas field in Iran. However, Israeli sources told Reuters that the attack was coordinated with the US.
In a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Thursday, Trump said he told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to carry out any new attacks on gas fields in Iran.
"We get along well. It's coordinated, but sometimes he does something," Trump said.
