A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry in Tehran announces via social media that the country is doing this in good faith, but also with great caution.
"The USA should appreciate this decision, which has been made despite their hostile rhetoric," writes spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei.
The government in the USA claims to want to reach a new nuclear energy agreement with Iran, after the country left the previous international agreement during President Donald Trump's first term. In recent weeks, the American side has stated that a military development cannot be ruled out if Iran does not show willingness to compromise.
Last month, USA's President Donald Trump sent a letter to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, urging him to negotiate.
On Friday, Khamenei's adviser confirms that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is on his way to Oman "with full authority for indirect negotiations with the USA", and added that if the country shows goodwill, the way forward would be "clear and smooth".
"Far from putting on a show and just talking in front of cameras, Tehran is seeking a real and just agreement, important and feasible proposals are ready," says Khamenei's adviser Ali Shamkhani in a post on X.
