The latest round of negotiations took place under the supervision of Oman and Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi. In a brief statement, it was said that the meeting had ended at 5 pm on Friday.

The American envoy Steve Witkoff had then left the meeting prematurely, due to a flight waiting for him, according to sources. Immediately after, an official announcement came that the talks had ended.

The mediator later announced that "certain successes had been achieved, but no decisive ones".

USA's President Donald Trump insists that Iran cannot be allowed to continue enriching uranium in any form, in exchange for easing of the American sanctions against the country.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said before the talks that enrichment of uranium is a must for Iran, otherwise "we have no deal".

"Figuring out the way to an agreement is not rocket science, he wrote on X.

"Zero nuclear weapons = we have an agreement. Zero enrichment = we have NO agreement. Time to decide…"

The talks were held at Oman's embassy in the Camilluccia district. An earlier round of talks between the USA and Iran was also held there at the beginning of the week.
