I have never been involved in a criminal case where the plaintiff has been subjected to this type of threat, pressure, and violence – it is completely unique, says Percy Bratt, who is a plaintiff assistant to several exposed witnesses, to the program.

The giant trial began in September 2023 and is expected to continue until the beginning of next year.

In the case, two former executives within Lundin Oil, Ian Lundin and Alex Schneiter, are charged with aiding and abetting gross human rights violations in Sudan 1999–2003, during a period when the company was active in the area.

An important part of the prosecutor's evidence consists of witness statements from Sudan during the relevant period. Cold Facts has taken part in a report compiled by a network working to protect the witnesses, which describes contact attempts, offers of bribes, threats, kidnappings, gross violence, and suspected murders. In total, there are nearly 400 incidents reported by witnesses or their relatives between 2014 and 2024.

The Lundin company denies to Cold Facts that they would have anything to do with unlawful witness influence.
