The preliminary investigation has concerned reckless endangerment and bodily harm, but according to the prosecutor, it has not been possible to find evidence that anyone has acted in a way that was punishable.
Senior Prosecutor Josefin Sävlund believes it is obvious that the kiosk was not sufficiently stable. However, it has been used on the market for 25 years, and the investigation has shown that the kiosk was never intended to be anchored to the ground or further stabilized, she states in a press release.
She does not believe that the misjudgment made can be classified as punishable negligence.
The owners of the company responsible for the kiosk have decided to donate the entire profit from this year's Kiviks market to the family of the deceased man, writes Ystads Allehanda. The exact amount is not fixed, but it concerns at least 200,000 kronor.
No amount of money in the world can compensate for a life, but we want to show that we care, says one of the owners to the newspaper.
