The broad OMXS index ended the year's first trading day on a plus, increasing by 1.2 percent. Among the winners were, for example, the investment company Kinnevik, up 4.8 percent, and the cloud service company Sinch, up 1.5 percent.
The OMXS30 list offered a nearly all-green view. Only three of the list's 30 stocks ended the day on a minus, and the index rose overall by 1.0 percent.
Outside the large-cap list, a price surge was noted for the credit management company Intrum, whose share rose 11.9 percent. The increase came after it was announced over the New Year's weekend that the company had received a green light in an American court regarding its so-called Chapter 11 plan for bankruptcy protection. Debt-laden Intrum's share fell by around 60 percent in 2024.
The gaming company Embracer also developed strongly, with an increase of 10.6 percent, after the analysis firm Pareto expressed a positive view on the share in a newly published analysis.
One of the day's losers was the engineering company ABB, which fell by 0.4 percent. The defense conglomerate Saab also fell by 0.4 percent.
The development on the larger stock exchanges in Europe mirrored that in Stockholm, with increases in, among other places, London.
