It was just over half an hour into the playoff semi-final against Ukraine in Valencia (a 3-1 win) on Thursday when the Atalanta defender sat down on the grass and was forced to leave the field with a bandaged left thigh.

On Saturday, the national team announced that the 27-year-old had been forced to withdraw from the training camp. Celta Vigo defender Carl Starfelt replaced Hien in the match. The national team also announced that no replacement would be called up.

Sweden will face Poland on Tuesday at the Strawberry Arena in Solna in a crucial qualifying final for a place at this summer's World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
