With five birdies and only one bogey, Ingrid Lindblad went through the third round with 68 strokes, which means she is a total of 17 under par after Saturday.
This is enough for a shared first place, together with Japanese Akie Iwai and American Lauren Coughlin. They both made better rounds than Lindblad on Saturday, but the Swede's Friday feat – when she made her career's best round with a total of ten birdies – means she is still in the running for the win.
It's pretty cool. I've been watching LPGA for so many years and suddenly my name is there, says Ingrid Lindblad to the tournament's reporter, about seeing her name on the leaderboard.
The 25-year-old is proud of how she handled the increased pressure after Friday's dream round. And ahead of Sunday's fourth and final round, the temperature is likely to be turned up even more.
I think I need to stay in my own bubble a bit, not think too far ahead. Of course, the goal is to win, but I can't win tonight or on the first hole tomorrow, she says and continues:
I need to try to stay in the present and keep playing well.
Lindblad turned pro last summer after a successful amateur career and through continued successes on the Epson Tour – where she among other things won a tournament – qualified for the LPGA tour.
