With six birdies and three holes on par during the first nine holes of the second round, Ingrid Lindblad seemed unstoppable. The only setback, a bogey on hole ten, was quickly avenged by four more birdies in a row.
After four finishing holes on par, the 25-year-old completed the second round in 63 strokes, which means she now has a total of 13 under par and a shared first place.
On a par 72 course, I've never gone around in less than 64. 63 is my best round with nine under par, she says to the LPGA tournament reporter after the round.
Lindblad turned pro last summer after a successful amateur career and, through continued success on the Epson Tour, qualified for the LPGA tour.
However, the start of her professional career was rocky. In her debut, she missed the "cut" by one stroke, and in the next competition, she was forced to withdraw due to illness.
I got sick in China, got extremely severe food poisoning the evening before. So I had no energy left to play, says Ingrid Lindblad.
Not the best start, she notes, but after Friday's successful round, her self-confidence is back on top again.
When you do the job, it will show eventually. Of course, it's hard to say exactly when, but I feel that I've worked on things in my golf game that I need to get better at – and after a day like this, it paid off, says the Swede.
