The seven-month-old child died in the raid on Friday evening, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the AFP news agency reports.
His parents were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Israeli military said in a statement late Friday that it "expresses deep sorrow over the harm caused to individuals who were not involved."
The statement from the Israeli military says that soldiers perceived a vehicle accelerating towards them, that a soldier fired a shot, and that three Palestinians “who were not involved” were injured.
"The incident is under investigation," the military writes.
