Elis Lundholm identifies as a man, but competes as a woman in moguls. Now that he's qualified for the Olympics and has the spotlight on him, there's also a risk of online hate. "Of course I've thought about it, but I do my thing and don't give a damn," he says.

The 23-year-old from Värmdö has felt like a man his whole life, but it was only five years ago that he made it official. In the mogul world, he has never had a problem competing as a woman.

"I've always been treated well," he says.

Robert Hansson, sports director for moguls at the ski association, agrees.

It has been incredibly easy in our sport. I am so happy when I see the attitude of young skiers. Of course, questions have arisen, and then they have been explained and it has immediately been "okay, I understand," says Hansson.

Only people who understand see how simple the question is, because it is very simple.

Stop reading.

Lundholm says he is aware that with more media exposure, given the Olympic location, the risk of receiving hate and threats online is increasing.

"Of course it's something I thought about. You can hear the voices out there. But then I do my thing and don't give a damn," he says.

Maybe he will stop reading everything on social media during the Olympics.

"You just have to do a little bit and focus on what it is," says Lundholm.

“Confident in himself”

Hansson, who trained Lundholm as a youth skater and followed him for almost ten years, says that the skater is getting all the support he could need for the Olympics.

And so I hope that there won't be any situations that we can't handle. Elis is very confident in himself and in what he's decided on and what he stands for. So it's going to take a lot before he's going to be shaken by this.

Lundholm will be helped to clean up online hate on his social media during the Olympics by the International Olympic Committee's AI scanner.

And it is clear that we will keep an eye on our social media as well and remove and block if any online hate appears," says Hansson.

Elis Lundholm's best result in the World Cup is 18th place. He was selected under the future criterion.
