Protests have erupted in Minneapolis after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents opened fire again in the city. An ICE agent shot a man in the leg after the man attacked the agent with a shovel on Wednesday evening.

According to US authorities, two men attacked agents with shovels during a raid in the city, CBS and other media outlets reported. One of the men was shot in the leg and later taken to a hospital.

The incident occurred just a week after 37-year-old Renee Good was shot dead by an ICE agent in the city, sparking strong reactions across the United States. In Minneapolis, protesters and police have clashed, and tear gas has been used. Against this backdrop, Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, has promised “several hundred” additional federal agents to ensure ICE’s work.

Protests erupted again Thursday night after the new shooting. According to NBC News, “an angry crowd” gathered in a residential area where police were stationed. The protesters reportedly temporarily blocked a road and threw snowballs at police, who responded with stun grenades.
