"I've wanted so much and maybe overworked"

Hanna Öberg has had one of the toughest seasons of her career. But in the World Championship relay, it turned around. It has been so frustrating, that I get to a really good race that is enough for a medal means a lot, says the biathlon star after the Swedish bronze.

Hanna Öberg came to the relay after a tough season in the World Cup and in the three first competitions in the World Championship, where she missed twelve shots and had an eleventh place as her best.

In the relay, she shot full and gave her little sister Elvira Öberg a good medal position on the final stretch.

For me, it was a lot of emotions after the race, that I get to feel that I get to do a really good race in the World Championship and that it's enough for a medal. It means a lot, she says.

She says that the season up until Saturday in Lenzerheide has been frustrating because she hasn't given herself a chance, neither on the track nor in the shooting.

Bronze with a golden edge

To TT, she said before the relay that the fact that she had to struggle with her physique in the competitions before Christmas, after being sick, had made her uncertain both in cross-country skiing and shooting.

I've wanted so much and maybe overworked, she said.

Hanna Öberg has driven all championship relays since 2017, and now got her sixth. She says that all medals have their story, but that this year's World Championship bronze means a little extra.

Considering how the competitions have been earlier in the championship, and my own stretch today, I think that the bronze medal gets a little golden edge.

"Is extremely impressive"

Elvira Öberg is very proud of her sister's relay stretch.

It's extremely impressive. It's really fun to see and important for her to get to do it, to get to show herself that she can do it, when she hasn't had the easiest season. To then do a perfect race in the World Championship is strong, says Elvira Öberg.

National team coach Johannes Lukas cheered Hanna Öberg on before the race and told her to trust what she had done before.

And you saw today that it was decided, from start to finish. It's nice that what we experience in training, you all also get to experience in competition, he says.
