The hunter who in October shot two Shetland ponies in a pasture in Nykvarn is no longer suspected of a crime. The preliminary investigation has been discontinued since, according to the prosecutor, it is not possible to prove that any crime has been committed, reports Svensk Jakt.
The hunter was suspected of hunting crime, vandalism, endangering others, and animal cruelty.
It was not game that was shot, so the incident is not covered by the hunting laws, says prosecutor Richard Wahlqvist to Länstidningen.
Neither can the other crimes be proven, according to the prosecutor.
The man mistook the ponies Charisma and Bubbe for wild boars, which led to their death. According to him, the ponies' movements resembled those of wild boars.
Corrected: In an earlier version, we referred to the wrong hunting magazine.
