Hundreds of hikers have received help after getting stuck on a slope in Mount Everest during a snowstorm. Rescue efforts continue. India has at the same time been hit by severe landslides.

The place where the hikers got stuck is located at an altitude of over 4,900 meters on Mount Everest, which is approximately 8,850 meters high. About 350 of them have been taken to safety and rescue personnel have contact with around 200 more stranded, according to the state Chinese CCTV.

The world's highest mountain, Mount Everest, stretches across the border between China and Nepal. Climbers try to reach the mountain from base camps in both countries.

In neighboring Darjeeling, India, 24 people have been killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall on Sunday. There, the search for people who are feared to be trapped under piles of debris is also ongoing.
