The decision goes against the wishes of Democratic leaders in the city, who have demanded that the federal agents leave after a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis was shot and killed by an ICE agent on Wednesday.
The incident has led to widespread, mostly peaceful, protests involving thousands of participants across the U.S. However, in Minneapolis, clashes have occurred between protesters and federal agents, with the agents resorting to pepper spray.
