Human rights are forgotten when new laws are made

The authority's new report shows that there are often shortcomings in the process behind the development of new laws relating to human rights.

Bills are often produced after short investigation and consultation periods, and there is a lack of proper analysis of how different rights may be affected.

The report also paints a picture of how racism has been normalized in society and says Sweden is experiencing increased material and social poverty.

The Institute for Human Rights also criticizes the fact that children are detained in youth homes without knowing when they will be released, which is contrary to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
