The savings economist Sharon Lavie at the comparison service Lendo has compiled some savings tips that can give even those with a limited vacation fund a little gold edge.

Maybe you haven't had time to save so much, become unemployed, are a student or pensioner. At the same time, you may want to treat yourself to an activity or trip during the summer, she says.

Check low-price calendar

Several of the tips are about saving money on travel during the summer vacation, both locally and to other places in the country.

For those who want to travel a little further, without being ruined, the tip is to be flexible with travel dates and departure times. Traveling from Tuesday to Thursday instead of Friday to Sunday can be significantly cheaper. Traveling early in the morning or late in the evening can also save money and Sharon Lavie recommends using the low-price calendars that several travel companies, such as SJ and Flixbus, have on their websites.

For more local travel, for example, Skånetrafiken, Norrtåg and Västtrafik offer different types of summer tickets. Skånetrafiken's summer ticket, which applies from June 15 to August 15, applies to up to three people and costs 595 kronor for the entire period, otherwise 829 kronor.

Skip the city center

Even when it comes to vacation accommodation, there may be opportunities to get away a little, or even much, cheaper.

You can save thousands per night just by staying at a hotel that is a mile or maybe a few kilometers outside the city center instead of staying in the middle of the city. And transportation can be solved with a regular bus ticket that fits.

Even when it comes to the classic vacation activity of visiting an amusement park, there may be wallet-friendly alternatives. For example, at Skara Sommarland, admission in June can cost 329 kronor from Monday to Thursday and 529 kronor from Friday to Saturday.

Just think a little outside the box and try not to be in places when everyone else is there, says Sharon Lavie.
