However, the cancelled licensed hunt is not reflected in this year's figures.
"The results we are now determining show how large the wolf population was last autumn, i.e. before the winter's cancelled licensed hunt. The fact that the licensed hunt did not take place this year will only become apparent at the next inventory," says Mona Hansers, head of the wildlife analysis unit at the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, in a press release.
Örebro is the county with the most territories for the second winter in a row, followed by Västra Götaland and Västmanland. In Värmland County, the number of territories has decreased.
The inventory is based on tracking in the snow, wildlife cameras and DNA analyses of urine and droppings.
