The crew of the cargo ship Galaxy Leader has been released, announces the Houthi movement in Yemen, which hijacked the ship in November 2023.
The release comes after mediation by Oman, and as "support for the ceasefire in Gaza", according to the rebel-controlled Yemeni news agency Saba.
The 25 crew members are from the Philippines, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, and Mexico.
The Iran-backed Houthi rebels claim that the ship was hijacked due to its connection to Israel. The movement has since November 2023 attacked ships in international waters, according to the Houthi rebels, in solidarity with the Palestinians during the war in Gaza.
