Housing prices rose by 1.9 percent nationwide compared with July, according to SBAB's monthly measurement based on sales on the Booli site.

Prices for condominiums rose the most, up 4.1 percent, while house prices were up 0.8 percent.

However, prices usually rise seasonally in August, so taking that into account, the picture changes. Then, condominium prices rose by only 0.3 percent, while villa prices increased by 0.7 percent.

"As expected, housing prices bounced back in August. Now it will be exciting to see what happens in the coming months. Normally, prices tend to fall back during late autumn and early winter," says SBAB's Chief Economist Robert Boije in a press release.

On the other hand, a stronger economy and possible interest rate increases could affect that picture in different directions, he says.
