Malmö FF's men are reigning cup champions after the final victory against Djurgården on penalties last spring.
The club's women are making a strong effort ahead of the season in the women's top league and the cup match against the dominant gold team Rosengård will be an indication of how the strength ratio looks early in the season.
"It's going to be exciting to see how they stand up against women's top league opposition. It's not an ordinary newcomer who has made it to the top league in Sweden", says Rosengård's sports manager Emelie Lundberg in a press release.
"It's a big club, so it's going to be fun with a real crowd match already in March and the first Malmö derby of three in 2025", she continues.
Piteå won the women's cup title after their triumph in the final against Häcken. To be able to repeat that feat, Piteå must first manage to get past Hammarby in the group stage, a tricky task.
Henrik Rydström's MFF avoids top league opposition in their group, which otherwise consists of Västerås SK, Utsikten, and Skövde.
Stockholm Internazionale failed to qualify for the Superettan but reached the cup group stage. Among other things, they are waiting for a derby against Hammarby, a match that may be played at Tele 2 Arena.
If that happens, Hammarby will get three home matches, just like last winter.
Degerfors is back in the top league and will measure themselves early against last autumn's series three AIK.
New for the group stage this winter is that geography was not a factor in the draw. The eight best teams in the top league 2024 were distributed into groups based on their table position.
Group 1: Rosengård, Växjö, Linköping, Malmö FF.
Group 2: Häcken, Djurgården, Umeå, Vittsjö.
Group 3: Hammarby, Piteå, Alingsås, Brommapojkarna.
Group 4: Kristianstad, IFK Norrköping, AIK, Kif Örebro
The group stage starts on the weekend of March 1-2 next year. The group winners advance to the semifinal.
