The situation for the homeless cats in Skåne is described as catastrophic.

There is no space and the demand is not enough for the large number of cats in Skåne, says Katarina Breiner, chairman of the cat shelter Homeless Cats Helsingborg/Skåne, to the magazine.

The cats are therefore sent to Stockholm, where there are more available spaces.

In places like Kattstallet in Stockholm, all rooms are currently full of cats from Skåne.

Stockholm's cat emergency services are filled with homeless cats from Skåne, says Careen True at Kattstallet in Stockholm.

The large number of homeless cats in Skåne is linked to the fact that the region has many farms and a mild climate that makes the cats there give birth to kittens all year round.
