Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores, 45, of the left-wing Ahora Nación party won the mayoral election with 229 votes, beating right-wing candidate Gaspar Osorio, who received 209, according to Peru’s national electoral authority.
Although the name Hitler is closely associated with Germany’s former dictator Adolf Hitler, Hitler Mussolini is not the first person with that name to win an election in Peru. As recently as 2021, Hitler Saavedra Casternoque was elected to parliament for the centrist Somos Perú party.
