The plan that caught fire and landed upside down in Toronto had a high descent speed, according to a preliminary report on the accident.
The warning system for the Delta Airlines aircraft, a CRJ-900LR type, indicated that the speed was high three seconds before landing, when it crashed on February 17 at Toronto's international airport. The flight speed was approximately 250 kilometers per hour.
All 80 people on board survived the spectacular accident, with 21 people taken to hospital.
According to the report, there were also problems with the landing gear. One wing also detached, releasing a cloud of fuel that caught fire as the plane slid along the runway. A large part of the plane's rear section also detached.
