This summer, Emerse Faé became the first national team coach to lead Ivory Coast past the World Cup group stage. But it wasn't enough to keep his job, and he was forced to leave on Friday.
The replacement will be Frenchman Hervé Renard, who led Ivory Coast to victory in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. The Ivory Coast Football Federation announced this on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old made a brief stint with Tunisia at the World Cup after Sabri Lamouchi was sacked following the 5-1 loss to Sweden. But the change had no further effect. They also lost to Japan and the Netherlands, and there was no continuation for Renard in Tunisia.
The Frenchman is a well-known name in African football and has previously managed Morocco, Ghana, Zambia and Angola, among others.
