Heintz had of course completely right when he at half-time summarized Göteborg's play for HBO Max.
Poorly. We cannot be afraid of having the ball at our feet. We must have a little more established play.
Häcken had been responsible for the pace, the imagination, the chances... in principle all of the measurable parameters. Except for the most essential: That with converting opportunities into goals.
Meager dividend
Mikkel Rygaard's screwed left shot – the Dane's first goal of the season and the first in Allsvenskan since last August – meant 1–1 with minutes left of the first half. Considering what Häcken created, the dividend was really meager. 12–2 in shots illustrated the play- and chance-wise superiority.
On Adrian Svanbäck's two sharp headers, Elis Bishesari responded with two equally sharp saves. Whereupon Amor Layouni put a wide shot outside.
The game was not many minutes old.
But mistakes cost. Defender Marius Lode did not get rid of the ball during a clearance. Instead, Tobias Heintz – in Häcken 2021 – rolled in the lead goal.
”Rightly dismal”
Häcken continued to push even in the second, but again against the run of play, Heintz sent in the winning goal, played by Max Fenger. Whereupon Mikkel Rygaard received a red card after he set his studs in the groin of an opponent.
Göteborg held on and won despite the play not being right.
We are rightly dismal in the game. It was a good first quarter then they take over. The second is a little better, but we should be happy and grateful for this, says August Erlingmark to HBO Max.
IFK Göteborg is fourth in Allsvenskan, two points behind AIK who decided (Kevin Filling) late (2–1) at home against Brommapojkarna.
