Sun and warmth have attracted many to bathe – but in connection with this, several cases of drowning have also occurred. Most recently, during Saturday, two people drowned in Sörmland, a man in his 60s and a child.

We see that the number of drowning accidents has increased a lot, and the reason for this is the fine weather throughout the country, says Göran Bertilsson at the Swedish Lifesaving Society to Ekot.

Another reason is that it has become increasingly common with leisure boats and sup-boards, which leads to more bathing accidents, according to the Swedish Lifesaving Society.

Bertilsson urges everyone who bathes to keep a close eye on each other, and to be particularly aware of children who cannot swim.

One must keep an eye on the children all the time, especially when many are bathing. The one who sits and checks the phone cannot at the same time watch the children.
