A woman in her 70s who was treated for breast and liver cancer did not receive proper follow-up from the hospital, reports P4 Kalmar on Sveriges Radio.
The check-ups were to be done every fourth month, but at the first occasion, the assessment was that everything was normal, and then "she fell out of the follow-up", according to the hospital.
When the woman a year later sought help for shortness of breath, it was discovered that the cancer had spread and that it was no longer possible to treat.
The hospital has reported itself under the Lex Maria regulations.
