Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported on Thursday that outbreaks of measles and meningitis have hit the eastern part of Chad.
"The continued arrival of refugee families from Sudan, where outbreaks are ongoing, means further spread," MSF said, pointing to problems with overcrowded refugee camps where access to water and healthcare is scarce.
"This increases the risk of rapid spread of infection, especially among children under five, who are at higher risk of complications."
Together with Chad's Ministry of Health, MSF has vaccinated 95,500 children against measles and even more children against meningitis.
