The women's Swedish second team has been looking for a new head coach since it was announced in late summer that Martin Sjögren would move to the NWSL team Chicago Stars when this soccer season ends.
The solution was close at hand. William Strömberg, who is currently Sjögren's assistant, will become the new head of the department.
"We have had a number of candidates for this assignment, and it feels very good that it is now clear to us that the best suited candidate is already working at the club. "Wille" is a coach who demands a lot, has an eye for detail and is a good relationship builder," says Hammarby's sports director Arnór Smárason to the club's website.
This will not be the 37-year-old's first head coaching assignment in the women's Swedish league. He has also previously coached Linköping. He has also had the main responsibility for BK Olympic in the men's third division, and has been an assistant coach for IFK Gothenburg's men's team.
