The boys were found dead in woodland areas in Nynäshamn and Upplands-Bro in July and August 2023. According to the indictment filed this week, Mohamed and Layth were murdered with gross violence.

Both were held captive for several hours before being murdered, to be "interrogated" about two pistols from the Foxtrot network they were accused of having lost.

In total, 18 people are charged with involvement in different parts of the case – where a 31-year-old is pointed out as having committed both murders, either alone or together with others.

He is suspected of being the person who was present at both occasions when the boys died, according to prosecutor Hanna Cardell to TT.

Bought sex

The man is also charged with buying sex in central Stockholm on July 26, between the two murders, which are believed to have taken place around midnight on July 26 and late in the evening on July 27.

The 31-year-old denies all the crimes he is now charged with.

The accused man has a record of nearly 30 points in the criminal register from 2009 and onwards, mainly concerning drug offenses and unauthorized driving.

In a probation statement from 2018, it is described that the man debuted early in criminality and that he has abused drugs. In the statement, the man himself states that he has supported himself on odd jobs but also criminality.

He has not been previously convicted of serious violent crimes, but in 2020, he was charged with assaulting his then-partner, who in the interrogation described the man as "always being very violent". He was acquitted, however, as it could not be ruled out that it was an accident, according to the court.

On the other hand, he was convicted in the same case for, among other things, bodily harm and drunk driving after a crash outside Södertälje, and later the same year also for buying sex.

More serious crimes

After this, he appears to have moved towards even more serious crimes, and in 2023, he became suspected in a large drug case linked to Foxtrot. For this, he received 8.5 years in prison for aggravated drug offenses in December last year.

In the case, a 26-year-old man who is believed to have administered a chat group for Foxtrot's drug sales was sentenced to 12 years in prison. The same 26-year-old is now charged, along with a 32-year-old man, with instigating the murder of 14-year-old Mohamed.

The 32-year-old is also suspected of instigating the murder of Layth.

In total, 18 people are charged with different types of involvement in the case of the murders of the two 14-year-olds Mohamed and Layth in the summer of 2023.

Additionally, three people who were not of legal age are being prosecuted as witnesses.

Besides murder, the suspicions include, among other things, instigation of murder, accessory to murder, kidnapping, aggravated grave robbery, preparation for murder, conspiracy to murder, and accessory to preparation for murder.

Five people are charged with involvement in Mohamed's murder, and eight for involvement in Layth's murder.

A 31-year-old is charged with both murders, in one case together with an 18-year-old man. A 32-year-old man is charged with instigating both murders via encrypted chats. For Mohamed's murder, a 26-year-old is also suspected of instigation.

Several people are also charged with involvement in the murder plans that the murdered 14-year-olds are believed to have been involved in. The plans are said to have been directed against several people within the Dalen network.

The evidence consists of many different parts, where a large part is extensive material from chats. There is also technical evidence in the form of DNA and fingerprints, as well as material from surveillance cameras.
