Due to a lack of snow, the biathletes were given a 25-second time bonus for a missed shot instead of a penalty round.
Hanna Öberg did not receive any penalty seconds during her race. Already after the first shooting, prone, she was around 40 seconds ahead of Elvira Öberg, who missed a shot.
After a full second, standing, shooting, older sister Öberg's first victory was never threatened. She was barely 35 seconds ahead of Elvira Öberg at the finish.
“Very positive”
Very positive. I can't complain about much. Nothing really. I went out quite hard and got Elvira, who is a good person, to chase out at the start. Then I couldn't hold back, says Hanna Öberg to SVT and continues:
Then I just drove. I thought it was better to open a little more aggressively. I think I lost a little bit at the end because of that, but it's such short laps.
She was, for obvious reasons, happy with the shooting.
I'm doing a very good job on the mound. No stress, I'm working through the series well, good preparation with breathing. I'm very happy with that.
Elvira Öberg was also satisfied.
"You're not used to this speed. It was a very good run-through. I'm very happy, especially that I'm shooting full stop," she tells SVT.
Success comeback
Linn Gestblom (formerly Persson) had not competed on snow for 21 months, but made a successful comeback. Gestblom gave it her all and came in third, just over 40 seconds behind Hanna Öberg.
A form report that makes her eligible for a place in the women's team when the World Cup premieres in Östersund at the end of November.
It feels great, Gestblom tells SVT.
Gestblom had surgery on his left shoulder immediately after the World Championships in February 2024, but refrained from competing last season due to continuing problems.
"I didn't feel anything from that. It (the shoulder) feels great," says Gestblom.
