Before the football match at 3 Arena, Hammarby had gone eight straight matches against Djurgården without a loss, the most recent of which was a 1–0 victory in the Swedish Cup quarter-finals in March.

That streak was extended to nine after “Bajen’s” Nahir Besara tied the score at 1–1 after an hour of play with a shot from outside the box. The strike was the team captain’s second in the Allsvenskan this year.

"I do my thing. I try to lead the team. I play my way and stay calm," the attacking midfielder tells TV4.

The 35-year-old has now scored against Djurgården in five of the last nine matches, two of which have ended goalless.

The Norwegian continues to deliver

Seventh-placed Djurgården, on the other hand, started Sunday's derby the better and Kristian Lien continues to deliver. The new Norwegian striker confidently scored his third Allsvenskan goal in five matches in the ninth minute.

After a short break due to flares in the second half, third-placed Hammarby took over, and Besara made it 1–1, which was the final score.

“Much better than them”

"It's a shame we can't come away with a win. We're doing very well. Djurgården is a really good team but at the same time we're much better than them today," says Besara.

Djurgården's new team captain Adam Ståhl, who had been absent due to a viral illness, made a comeback when he came on in the tied match.

"It felt like we were really low. You have to give it to Hammarby. They did well and got us down," he tells TV4.

Djurgården's assistant coach Christer Mattiasson was shown a red card in the second half by head referee Glenn Nyberg, a future World Cup referee. According to TV4, the reason was that Mattiasson said something that Nyberg reacted to.

Djurgården's last victory against Hammarby came just under four years ago, in July 2022. It was a 1–0 win in one of their Allsvenskan meetings.
