Hamas negotiators in Doha have not been able to reach the terrorist group's leaders in Gaza since last week, which is hindering the talks about a ceasefire from progressing, reports Times of Israel which has spoken to a source with insight.
Indirect talks between Israel and the terrorist-stamped Hamas have been ongoing for some time in Qatar's capital Doha. On the table is a proposal for a 60-day long ceasefire in exchange for the release of some of the hostages. Hamas has not responded to the proposal.
Times of Israel's source also says that Israel's decision to enter Deyr al-Balah for the first time since the start of the war may further damage the efforts to reach Hamas leaders in Gaza.
Last week, a high-ranking official from Israel accused Hamas of sabotaging the negotiations. In a statement, which among others the news agency AFP has taken part of, the official said that Hamas "creates obstacles" and "refuses to compromise".
