The al-Qassam brigades announce to our great people that a group of prominent warriors and heroic commanders have suffered martyrdom, says Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the armed wing of the terrorist-stamped movement in a video statement, and mentions several individuals – including Mohammed Dayf.
Mohammed Dayf is believed, together with the deceased Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, to have been the mastermind behind the October 7 attack in 2023, which killed around 1,200 Israelis and led to Israel declaring war on Hamas.
The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against Dayf in November last year, two months after Israel reported that he had been killed.
Such an order was also issued against Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel's former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
