At the same time, both Israel and Hezbollah have continued to attack targets.

Right now, more than three million people - over half of Lebanon's population - rely on humanitarian aid to survive, said Hadja Lahbib, EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, after a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut.

Since the outbreak of war on March 2, the EU has provided Lebanon with 100 million euros in aid and sent six planes with emergency aid, Lahbib said.

Israel's attacks have killed more than 2,700 people in Lebanon in just over two months. Over a million Lebanese have been forced to flee.

A third round of talks between the US and the Lebanese government is expected in the US next week, despite Iran-backed Hezbollah's opposition to direct negotiations.

The fragile ceasefire is continuously shaken by attacks in Lebanon, including rocket fire on Israeli targets carried out by the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia.

Hezbollah shelled a military base in northern Israel on Friday. The attack was "revenge" for Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon and the southern parts of the capital, Beirut, according to Hezbollah.
