Almost half a million people have been forced to evacuate due to floods in eastern Pakistan.

Severe monsoon rains have caused rivers to overflow and the rescue effort is extensive in the Punjab province, which borders India.

Just in the last week, at least 30 people have died as a result of the crisis, according to local rescue services. The flooded rivers in the area have made more than 2,300 villages uninhabitable.

This is the largest rescue operation ever in Punjab, says Irfan Ali Khan, head of the province's disaster authority.

According to the rescue chief, over 800 boats and 1,300 rescue workers have worked to assist all those affected and build up more than 500 refugee camps.
