"It feels incredibly fun, inspiring, and honorable to get this assignment. I'm grateful that the club wants to go with me as the head responsible and I'm looking forward to getting started with the work. I know many people in and around the organization and I know what the club means to many out there, not least for the city", says Mikael Håkanson to the club's website.
The agreement spans over two seasons. Håkanson comes most recently from a role as assistant coach in Swiss Bern. Previously, the 50-year-old has been assistant coach in Djurgården for several seasons.
As a player, he made his elite league debut in Djurgården and in 2000, Håkanson was part of winning the Swedish Championship gold for the Stockholm club. Ahead of the 2002-2003 season, he moved to Linköping where it became ten seasons and 505 matches in total.
